Blacksmith's Cottage, Dall, Rannoch, Perthshire
- The Cottage

- Half way along the south side of Loch Rannoch, standing in 2 ½ acres of ground, Blacksmith’s Cottage nestles into the edge of the Black Wood of Rannoch. The cottage is over a hundred years old, and was one of the estate cottages for nearby Dall House. Now fully equipped for comfortable self-catering holidays, the cottage stands in a sheltered location close to the lochside with elevated views directly into the Caldedonian pine wood.
- One double and one twin bedroom

- The cottage sleeps 4 with double and twin bedrooms. The sitting room has an open fire and the kitchen/dining room has a wood burning stove. The bathroom has electric immersion water heating and a bath. There is a games room to the rear with half size, slate bed snooker table and darts board. We have lots of books, jigsaws and games for the days when the weather is 'sub optimal'.
- Facilities

- The cottage has everything to make self-catering simple: electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, water filter [private water supply], washing machine, tumble drier. (There is no TV here; this is a place to take a real break from the world!) The wood burning fires and electric heaters provide warmth on the cooler days. Garden furniture and picnic accouterment for the days when relaxing outside. Three adult mountain bikes [ridden at own risk] give two wheeled freedom.
- The Locality

- Rannoch is at the heart of Highland Perthshire. This is a big landscape with large bodies of water, big hills and regular tree cover which combine to create stunning scenery. Home to some of Europe’s most notable trees, this part of Big Tree Country boasts very tall, very old and very wonderful arboreal delights! The Black Wood of Rannoch is a particularly fine remnant of the ancient Caledonian Forest, which once covered much of Scotland. It is a nature lover’s paradise with birch, aspen, rowan, heather and blaeberries plus those magnificent ‘granny’ pines. The Black Wood is home to crossbills, siskins, woodpecker, capercaillie and many other species of woodland birds. Invertebrates are particularly well represented in the Black Wood. Red squirrels are regular visitors to the cottage bird feeders. Deer are often seen in the early morning. Pine marten, otter, osprey and golden eagle are present in the area.
The village of Kinloch Rannoch is just over five miles away. It has a general store, hairdresser, post-office and two hotels. Guesthouses serve meals to non residents.
